So since I have been writing about TV shows I have recently discovered, I have sort of accidentally become somewhat of an advertisement. I figured I should back track a little and talk about other shows I/we have been watching since we got married. We like finding a show and watching the whole series because it gives us something to look forward to and get involved in. I like movies, but it is not the same as watching the same characters in a show face a new challenge every week. Or waiting to see who it is that has been doing all this mysterious stuff for the past 4 weeks.

“Oh wait, you mean all this time, So-n-so’s grandma (who is also What’s-his-name’s adopted daughter and That-other-girl’s long lost sister) has been behind it?!”

I think I like TV shows because they are like reading a novel in that you can’t usually finish a novel in a couple hours like a movie, but you have to stop reading every once in a while. When you are not reading, you can’t stop thinking about the story until you can read again. The same is true for TV dramas. They draw you in. On the flip side, like a good novel, sometimes a TV show can be so addicting that you cannot stop. There have been plenty of times that I have stayed up all night to finish a book because I can’t put it down. With Netflix, we have the whole TV series at our finger tips and we have the “one more episode will be OK” mentality. Next thing we know, 10 episodes later, our whole day (or night) has disappeared. But hey, we are young. No big deal.

Right after we moved to Ohio, we didn’t have cable. Only Netflix. So we started watching Supernatural. Both of us had watched it a little in the past so we decided to start from the beginning and see how far we get. (The first 7 seasons are on Netflix and they are in the 8th right now on the CW. Also, the actors have signed a contract for up to 10 seasons!). Well, we have been caught up to what is on TV now since before Christmas. That means we watched 7 and 1/2 seasons in 4 or 5 months. Crazy!

Anyway, Supernatural is about two brothers who hunt evil, supernatural beings. Monsters, if you will. Some episodes are stand-alone ghost hunts, but others follow a specific story line of say, searching for this one evil guy until it comes to a head in the season finale and the only way to defeat him is for someone else to suffer. I mean really suffer. It is so good. The writers really do their research. Every myth, legend, or lore they use to create a story, is really out there. We look them up.

Next is Once Upon A Time. For a year and a half now, I have seen a bunch of hype on Facebook about this show. I knew it was about a bunch of fairy tails so I really didn’t think Pearson would like it very much. But when my mini feed and Pinterest kept filling up with it, I decided to try it on my own. I watched a couple episodes and loved it. Then Pearson watched one with me and decided he had to watch the rest. I wasn’t allowed to watch without him anymore. Sigh. But that’s OK. We have, of course, been caught up to what’s on TV for a while so it isn’t that easy for me to watch without him anyway.
