Easy & Delicious Greek Turkey Burgers

Easy & Delicious Greek Turkey Burgers

Once upon a time, a few months over a year ago, Pearson and I decided to try to do the Whole 30 challenge. We were going to eat paleo for 30 days. Well, we lasted about 5 days, and I don’t think they were even in a row… I think the biggest thing I missed was the cheese. I grew up eating cheese on almost everything. I mean we even added more cheese to our frozen pizzas before baking them. I love cheese. But, it really isn’t the best thing for you, you know?

So when I was given the opportunity to try Sargento Ultra Thin Slices through Influenster, I was super excited! Have you heard of or seen the Ultra Thin Slices? They are pretty cool. The slices are a lot thinner than most sliced cheese so each slice is only 40-45 calories, BUT they don’t sacrifice any flavor! Pretty cool, right? AND they have 9 flavors to choose from!

So I got my influenster VoxBox in the mail which included a voucher for a free package of Sargento Ultra Thin Slices, and an adorable lunchbox! I went to Kroger and decided to try the mild cheddar and I must say, they taste fantastic! I loved them on regular lunch sandwiches, so I had to try them on something different.

I took this recipe for greek turkey burgers and tweaked it a little. We eat a lot of turkey meat because it is leaner than beef and I like the taste a lot. And we are huge fans of feta cheese and anything greek so I had to give it a try!

Greek Turkey Burgers
Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 4 oz feta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or basil)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • A griddle
I forgot to include the parsley and pepper in this picture. Oops… I’m new to recipe blogging

Directions:
1. Spray your griddle with non-stick cooking spray and turn it on to 350°
2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Get your hands dirty and really mix it all up breaking the pieces of feta as you go (or have your husband do this).

3. Form patties out of the mixture and place them on the griddle

4. Cook for about 15 minutes (or until cooked to desired finish) flipping frequently

5. Place a slice of Sargento Ultra Thin cheese on each patty a few seconds before removing them from the griddle.

6. Serve on buns with your choice of toppings (we had condiments, lettuce, and tomatoes) and a side of your favorite potato chips.

The burgers were a big hit! The hubby LOVED them and insisted we do it again soon. The Sargento cheese definitely made a difference!
