No Buy Style Challenge: Wild Summer Outfit Inspiration

Happy July! It’s time for another No Buy Style Challenge! Can you believe we’re more than half way through 2020? I’m determined to make the second half of this year better than the first. But that’s a post for another time! Today, let’s talk “no-buy style!”

No Buy Style Challenge: Wild Summer Outfit Inspiration

If you’re new to the No Buy Style Challenge, here’s a quick recap. 3 other awesome bloggers and I decided to do a fashion collaboration on our blogs. Each month, one of us provides the other three with an outfit photo for inspiration. Then the other bloggers recreate the outfit with our own twist using only items we already have in our closet!

This month, Callie sent the above outfit for inspiration. I LOVE the wild, Lisa Frank vibes!

Unfortunately, I don’t currently own anything that wild. I’m not really sure why. But again, that’s a question for another time. But I do have this fun and colorful maxi dress. I thought it would be perfect for my interpretation of Callie’s outfit!

I got this dress forever ago in a StitchFix box. And when I say forever ago, I mean fall of 2015. It fits me a little differently now but I think it still looks great! If you have been paying attention to the No Buy Style Challenge, you’ve probably noticed most of the clothes I’m featuring are pretty old. I have been in the process of reducing my wardrobe down to a capsule over the last year or so. And for whatever reason, most of the pieces I decide to keep are ones I’ve had for a while.

And my shoes. Oh boy, I had these shoes at least in college. Maybe even high school. And I haven’t worn them much since then. In fact I found them at my mom’s house this past fall and decided to bring them home with me. I feel like these slides are one of those things that went totally out of style and then came back before I got rid of them!

I rounded out the outfit with an owl necklace that was my grandmother’s and earrings from Hey June that you can’t really see. (Oops)

  1. We had the same thought with a bold maxi dress! That dress is so cute. Have you done an updated post on your capsule wardrobe? I’d be interested to see in what you’ve decided to keep.
