About

Mission Statement:

I use this blog, Enduring All Things, to inspire young wives to keep God first and their husbands second in everything they do. It is a place for wives (and husbands) to find marriage tips, date ideas, and advice based on biblical principles. In a world where we’re constantly told that our marriages are bound to fail, this blog is the voice of hope and truth. I believe that it’s possible to build a marriage that will endure whatever comes your way.

Me:

I’m Charlene. I’m typical 20 something girl aspiring to live my life to the fullest. I recently moved to Portland, Oregon with my husband and fur-child after spending most of my life in the southeastern US. I am a follower of Christ, watcher of sci-fi, reader of fantasy, singer of show tunes, connoisseur of coffee, writer of unsolicited marriage advice, fur-mother of Pip and lover of Pearson.

Husband:

My husband, Pearson, is my best friend. We were high school sweethearts and dated 6 years before we got married. He is my absolute favorite person on the planet. He is a wonderful Christian, fantastic guitar player, brilliant scientist, patient husband, sci-fi/fantasy nerd, and one handsome hunk! We got married in 2012 right after graduating from college. Then we moved to Columbus, Ohio (after only ever living in the southeast) while he was in grad school for his PhD at Ohio State. We lived there for 5.5 years until he finally graduate and got an awesome job at Intel in Oregon!

Fur Child:

Pearson and I adopted our fur-child, Pip about a year after we got married. He loves chasing squirrels, rabbits, and chipmunks, and he enjoys watching such wildlife outside our patio window. You can find him sleeping under our bed at any time of day. He is a wonderful dog and sometimes I wonder who rescued who.

The Blog Title:

The title, Enduring All Things, comes from 1 Corinthians 13:7. “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” I believe that true love, as a choice – not just a feeling – can endure anything. I’m not saying it’s easy, but I am saying that it’s worth it. My marriage is the most important thing to me and ending it is simply not an option. So Pearson and I work on it daily and I use this blog to help other women work on their marriages as well. Let’s build marriages that can endure anything that comes our way.
