Thankful Thursday: He is Risen!

On this Thankful Thursday, I am very thankful that Christ humbled himself to come to this Earth, was killed on a Cross and…
He has Risen!
Sunday was Easter. This is when we celebrate the rising of Our Savior.
As with all ‘Christian’ holidays, I think we should be celebrating this every day, BUT having a specific day in the year when basically the whole country celebrates is pretty cool.
Think with me for a second about Jesus…
He is God, but He came to Earth. Yeah, Earth is a pretty great place but it is NOTHING compared to Heaven. Jesus was with His (and our) Father in paradise but He left that to come and suffer as a human on Earth just like you and me. Why? Because He loves us and wants us to be free from our sins.
Jesus was hated and persecuted in His life here on Earth. He was tempted but never sinned. He was arrested and executed. He was beaten, mocked, and hung on a cross; the most shameful means of execution of the time period. He hung between 2 criminals. He did not deserve it. He was perfect. He could have stopped it, but he didn’t. Why? Because He loves us and wants us to be free from our sins.
Lastly, he arose from the grave. He conquered death. He defeated Satan. He gave us hope of rising again to be with Him in Heaven. Why? Because He loves us and wants us to be free from our sins.
I am most thankful for this sacrifice. He suffered all that you and I might live eternally. All our many many sins were placed on Him. He carried our burdens and still does so that we don’t have to, because He loves us. Amazing!

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 ESV

“There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain.
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me.
For I am His and He is mine,
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.”

We are very loved and very blessed. Let’s never forget that.
