Thankful Thursday: Skype

Thankful Thursday: Skype

Today for Thankful Thursday I am thankful for…
Skype!
via
On Sunday, I had the most wonderful opportunity to Skype with my best friend, Ashley! (the one who got married in June. I talk about her a lot on here). We text a lot and talk on Facebook, but we haven’t Skyped since like August. Our schedules just never lined up. She is trying to get through her senior year, apply to grad schools, AND now she is the president of our social club!! So anyway, she’s busy. (And sorry I didn’t take a typical “I’m Skyping with my best friend” screen shot. I know, I am a horrible person).
All this to say that I am oh so thankful for Skype! Ashley and I live about 700 miles from each other but I got to talk to her and see her face on Sunday! Not only that, but back in the Spring of 2012, I got to talk to her and see her face while she was in Greece! What? And all for free, over WiFi.
Technology can be a great thing if we let it. If we use it to strengthen our relationships when it is difficult to do that otherwise, it as a great thing. However, technology can also be harmful to our relationships with people around us, if our nose is buried in our phone, tablet, or laptop instead of spending time engaging with our friends and family.
So here’s to using Skype and other technology to reinforce our long-distance relationships and keeping it from harming other relationships.

On another note, my bloggy friend, Bekah has let me write my FIRST EVER guest post on her blog today. Be sure to check it out! (click the picture to go straight to the actual post).
