Meet the Maugeris: Autumn // Priceless Powwows with Pearson

Meet the Maugeris: Autumn // Priceless Powwows with Pearson

I have a treat for you today! Back in August, after Betsy and Laura stopped the Guys Behind the Blog linkup, Brita decided to come up with her own questions for a similar series. She asked if anyone was interested in making her “Meet the Flongs” series a link up and I was totally on board. Two months later, she’s opened a link up and I’m excited to join her today!

I really like how Brita answers her own questions as well as having Dan answer so that’s what I’m going to do too. But her link up is certainly not just for couples. In Brita’s words, you could simply answer the questions yourself, or interview your best friend, or beg your parents to share their thoughts.

Also, I’m bringing back Priceless Powwows with Pearson, so stay tuned at the bottom of this post for that!

Lets get to the questions! (Disclaimer: answered these several weeks ago but forgot to ask Pearson until today so I texted them to him at work).

What are your favorite scents of autumn?

Charlene:

Scent? Definitely pumpkin. But my favorite taste is apple.

Pearson:

This may sound basic, but pumpkins. No, wait! Cinnamon 🙂

How did your family celebrate Halloween when you were growing up?

Charlene:

Well, we always went trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Our neighborhood also always had a parade where all the kids in costume paraded around the neighborhood before trick-or-treating started. Sometimes we would go to a fall festival in our town. And sometimes my grandparents would come over for dinner and see us in costume.

Pearson:

Trick-or-treating. My mom would usually make our costumes. It was a fun time.

Ignoring the calendar, when does it actually feel like autumn where you live?

Charlene:

We used to live in Georgia and it wouldn’t really feel like fall till November. In Ohio, it feels like fall pretty early. Except this year.

Pearson:

Around early October. But not this year.

What foods do you associate with autumn? Bonus: share a recipe!

Charlene:

Pumpkin and apple anything. I have a really simple recipe for an Apple Crumble Cobbler from my grandma:

  • Fresh apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup of self-rising flour
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter, softened
  • ground cinnamon to taste
  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Mix flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon together in a bowl with a fork.
  3. Put the apples in a greased, glass baking dish. I use a 9×9 but other sizes would probably work fine too.
  4. Pour the flour mixture over the apples.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned. Let cool before serving.

Pearson:

Anything with pumpkin in it. And apple desserts.

PRICELESS POWWOWS WITH PEARSON

Back story: We live right across the street from a really nice and new Kroger Market place. There is another Kroger really close to where I work. Also, sometimes Pearson mixes up words with absolutely no explanation.
Me: That’s the Kroger I go to on my lunch break sometimes.
Him: It’s not as good as our Kroger, is it?
Me: Nope. Not many are.
Him: Yeah, I think we’re pretty spoiled when it comes to baking soda.

Back Story: Pearson was supposed to be opening a bag for me but instead he was spinning around in the kitchen looking for something.
Me: Stop and open the bag!
Him: I’m looking for spoons. I mean scissors.

Back Story: We were watching “Hamilton’s America,” the PBS documentary about the making of “Hamilton the Musical.” Apparently Lin-Manuel Miranda looks at everybody like he’s in love with them or something. But Pearson said this before we saw the above meme.)
Him: Every time I look at the TV, I feel like Lin-Manuel is going to kiss me or something!
———————————————–
Me: I ate an entire small Jet’s pepperoni pizza for lunch. Now I feel terrible.
Him: That was a bad life decision. 10 points taken from Charlene. You are now out of the running for the House Cup.
Me: Bahahaha I love you!
Him: I love you too!
———————————————–

Him: The inside of my mouth tastes like sapphires.
———————————————–
Him: I woke up and smelled the candles and then I wanted pumpkin. I’m a basic white girl.

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I do! Brita’s link up will be open for a week and I’d love to read your answers too! Thanks for reading!
