Monthly Goals for October {2016}

Monthly Goals for October {2016}

Happy October, everyone! It’s my favorite month of the year! We have a lot going on this month including our annual trip to Hocking Hills and plenty of Halloween celebrations. It’s the beginning of my favorite time of year and I couldn’t be more excited. So let’s see what my goals look like for the month, shall we?

  • Word of the Year:

My word of the year, for this year is present. A couple months ago, I decided to go an entire weekend without technology. Then, I decided to make it a monthly occurrence. However, I failed at that in September. I’m going to try again in October. We will be in Hocking Hills October 21st through the 23rd so I’ll use that as my technology-free weekend. I might not even take pictures since I have plenty of gorgeous pics from the last two years (posts here and here).

  • Spiritual:

I was not so successful with my goal of getting up on time and using the First 5 app five times per week. I did really well in August and then failed in September. I’m going to try again in October.

  • Physical:

Last month, I set a Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-based goal to lose 30 pounds by Thanksgiving. Which meant I needed lose 10 pounds in September. Well I lost 5 pounds. But I’m not considering that a failure. I could have done better for sure, but I’m satisfied with my progress. And more than pounds, I lost 7 total inches (off my waist, hips, thighs, and arms)! So I’m updating my goal. Instead of losing 10 pounds from September through November, I want to lose 30 inches. I think I can really do that!

As far as my other goals I sort of set in September to help with my main fitness one (to lose 10 pounds), I did really well with them and plan to continue them. I will rink 80 oz of water every day. I will try to drink Shakeology every morning. I will eat healthy and only eat till I’m satisfied. I completed most of the Country Heat workout program last month (and I loved it) so this month I will combine cardio through Country Heat videos with some strength training through the 21 Day Fix Extreme.

  • Mental: (this paragraph contains affiliate links)

Last month, I posted my reading plan for the rest of the year because I really want to meet my resolution of reading 17 books in 2017 with 7 of them being non-fiction. I was supposed to read To Kill a Mockingbird and Boundaries in Marriage in September. Well, if you read my “What I Read in September” post on Friday, you know I didn’t finish Boundaries but that’s okay. I’m confident I will catch up this month! I will finish Boundaries and I will read both Go Set a Watchman and Dracula.

  • Marriage:

Last month I wanted to knock two dates off our date night bucket list and guess how many we did. Zero. It’s really difficult when we don’t know Pearson’s schedule very far in advance. So I’m not going to set any kind of goal for the bucket list this month. We have a lot going on with Hocking Hills, Halloween parties and Trunk-or-Treat, and I will be in Worthington Community Theatre’s Christmas play this year. Auditions are this week and rehearsals start the last week of October.

However, I am going to set the goal to do at least one of our datebox (aff) dates we still have left over from that subscription. We didn’t do any of those last month like I hoped either.

  • Blog:

Last month, I set follower number goals on my Twitter and Instagram accounts and I didn’t meet either one. This working in an office and blogging is turning out to be more difficult than I thought.

This month, I am going to continue to work on my ever growing list of blog tasks and focus on growing my Instagram. I’m not going to set any specific number goals for Instagram but I am going to read through the instarevealed guides and make a plan to grow.

  • Work:

Last month, I successfully brought my lunch 4 days per week and I took the initiative to ask others what I could help with! I am keeping those same two goals this month.

  • Personal/Other:

I will wake up on time and stick to my morning routine (which include reading First 5 and drinking Shakeology – both of which I talked about earlier in this post). I will write an entire post about my morning routine later.

I will be in bed by 10:30 on weeknights.

What are you goals for this month?
