The Best Secret to Getting Everything Done

The Best Secret to Getting Everything Done

Guys, I’ve hit the jackpot.

I’ve found gold.

I should have done this years ago.

You know how busy everybody always is, right? We complain about being busy. Or we at least talk about it like a competition. It’s our excuse for everything. And while I have been super busy with the holidays and rehearsals for “A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol,” I’ve still been checking off my to do list.

The apartment got decorated for Christmas early. Right after Thanksgiving.

I only have 3 more Christmas gifts to buy. That includes all of Pearson’s stocking stuffers. Everything. (I’ll admit I haven’t wrapped them yet though).

I’ve been doing really well on most of my monthly goals for December.

How have I done all this? What is my secret?

I stopped watching TV.

Ok ok. I watched Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. But I dragged that out over at least a week. And I finally started watching season two of Fuller House last night. But both of those are exceptions.

But, do you remember how much TV Pearson and I used to watch? I shared our “Watch List” in 2013, last year, and this year. Except this year, we watched the first couple episodes of S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon a Time, and Designated Survivor. And then stopped.

Part of that is because we didn’t have a lot of time. Especially with my show. But if our shows had been as much of a priority for us as they have been in the past we would have found the time.

Instead, we used that time to work on our relationship. To connect. We’ve talked to each other more to each other in the last two or three months than we had the whole year before that. I also used that time to exercise, read, keep up with the housework (until the last week because tech week – but that’s another story), and do lots of other things that I always complain that I never have time for.

It’s truly amazing. And if I’m being honest, I don’t miss it. I really enjoyed having “our shows” that we watched together. And I loved how that was our thing. But I really don’t miss them like I thought I would. We relied on them way too much and it seemed like we never did anything but watch TV. Not anymore.

So anyway, I just wanted to share this exciting discovery with you readers. I’m not judging you if you watch TV or anything like that. And I’m sure we’ll get back into it eventually. But it’s been good for us as a couple and for me as an individual to take this little break to get away from the routine.

How much TV do you watch? Have you ever had to cut back?
Thanks for reading!
