Meet the Maugeris: Goal-Setting // Priceless Powwows with Pearson

Meet the Maugeris: Goal-Setting // Priceless Powwows with Pearson

I’m joining Brita again today for her Getting to Know You series. She started this series up back in the summer after Guys Behind the Blog ended. Then she turned it into a link up. I joined her in October and December. And now I’m back again. I’m actually posting this a day early because I am hosting a linkup for “What I Read this Month” tomorrow.

Anyway, don’t worry, I included some Priceless Powwows with Pearson at the bottom for you to laugh at. So let’s get to it, shall we?

What Goals did you accomplish in 2016?

Charlene:

None really. I did pretty well with my weight loss during September and October. But other than that, 2016 pretty much sucked.

Pearson:

Oh boy. What did I accomplish in 2016? I went to a scientific conference… I bought a Les Paul (laughs)… What else did I do? Like a goal… I don’t know. Is two enough?

Do you set New Year’s Resolutions? Why or why not?

Charlene:

I don’t really like to set resolutions because I think it’s just setting yourself up to fail. But I like setting monthly goals and usually I have a bigger picture goal in mind when I set those each month. And I usually have a “Word of the Year” that I like to focus on for the year.

Pearson:

I did this year and they’ve all gone by the wayside. We need to start doing German again.

How do you work for what you want?

Charlene:

It’s often difficult to stay focused so in order to work hard, I sometimes have to deprive myself of all distractions. I have to motivate myself by thinking about the outcome and end goal verses life without that outcome. Then I decide if it’s worth it and buckle down. Also, I write everything down. I have a full planer plus tons of sticky notes attached to each page.

Pearson:

What does that even mean? Hard? How does anyone work for what they want? If you’re not working for it you don’t really want it. I work hard.
———————————————–

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Charlene:

Nashville! Pearson will be finished with grad school and we’ll be living somewhere else. Hopefully Nashville. That’s kinda the “plan” as of now. And I think we’ll have started the foster/adoption process.

Pearson:

With a job. Not in grad school. Still married. In a band… No I’m just kidding. With another doggie. In a house. With a baby? Selling lasers to people or I don’t know, making scientific instruments of some sort. I don’t know what I want to do.

PRICELESS POWWOWS WITH PEARSON

———————————————–
His general love and obsession with Costco. We bit the bullet and bought a membership this month and he’s like a kid in a candy store!
———————————————–
Him: I wish I was a mix of Chris Evans and Nick Offerman with a little Pratt sprinkled in.
———————————————–
Back Story: I got him a Jord Wood Watch.
Him: I love wood. Things made out of wood are so cool looking and yet they also say “I’m a freaking man.” Especially if you made whatever it is yourself.
———————————————–
Back Story: The Atlanta Falcons are going to the Super Bowl! This conversation has literally happened about 5 times a day since the NFC Championship…
Him: Guess what!
Me: (Not really paying much attention) What?
Him: THE FALCONS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!
———————————————–
Back Story: Um… We were driving. This came out of nowhere. He made it all up on the spot.
Him: The ants go marching one by one hurrah hurrah.
The ants go marching one by one hurrah hurrah.
The ants go marching one by one the little on stops to pee on his thumb.
And they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain. Boom boom boom boom…
….. two by two…. the little one stops to poop on his shoe…..
….. three by three….. the little one stops to barf on a leaf…..
….. four by four….. the little one stops to vomit some more….
(I honestly don’t remember the rest but he went on through 12. I was cracking up)

So there you have another round of Meet the Maugeris and Priceless Powwows. What did you think? Does your husband ever say funny things like this?

Again, I’m linking up with Brita for Getting to Know You. Check out her post for next month’s questions and join us!
