Revisiting my 30 before 30 Bucket List (for the last time)

Revisiting my 30 before 30 Bucket List (for the last time)

Well guys. I’m 30 years old today. When I turned 26 I started a 30 before 30 bucket list. I’m not really sure why. I mean, I guess I did it because everyone else was doing it. But every year I updated the list such that my current list looks almost nothing like the list I started with. You can see how much I modified the list in the posts below.

Update: I decided to actually add those lists here and delete the old blog posts so I don’t have so much duplicate content on my blog.

My 2016 List:

  1. Unplug for an entire weekend
  2. Attend a music festival
  3. Go to DisneyWorld (we’re actually planning 2 trips within the next 4 years)
  4. Make decent money blogging
  5. Visit Seattle
  6. Visit San Diego/Las Angeles (we’re planning this for spring break!)
  7. Go on a cross-country road trip
  8. Go on a cruise
  9. Go camping
  10. Stay in an AirBnB room
  11. See Hamilton (we’re planning this for our anniversary when they go to Chicago this year)
  12. Get into great shape and gain confidence in that area
  13. Take couple pictures once I feel better about myself
  14. Finish paying Pearson’s student loans
  15. Pay off our car (we’re on track to be done by the end of this year)
  16. Buy a house (this depends on when Pearson graduates)
  17. Start putting more money toward retirement
  18. Move back to the South (also depends on when Pearson graduates)
  19. Ride in a hot air balloon
  20. Visit the Grand Ole Opry and stay at Opryland (we’re planning this for December of this year)
  21. Watch all the movies nominated for best picture each year
  22. Read through the whole bible w/ good morning girls
  23. Memorize a book (or two) of the Bible
  24. Learn to play the guitar (for real this time)
  25. Go to Comic-con
  26. Read 60 books
  27. Keep up with a capsule wardrobe for at least an entire year
  28. Get another dog
  29. Brush up on my French
  30. Become a mother (this one might be a stretch depending on how long Pearson is in school)

My 2017 List:

  1. Unplug for an entire weekend
  2. Attend a music festival
  3. Go to Disney World (we’re actually planning 2 trips within the next 4 years)
  4. Visit Seattle
  5. Visit San Diego/Las Angeles (we’re planning this for spring break!)
  6. Go on a cross-country road trip
  7. Go on a cruise
  8. Go camping
  9. Stay in an AirBnB room
  10. Make decent money blogging – This sort of happened. But I will do even better this year.
  11. See Hamilton (we’re planning this for our anniversary when they go to Chicago this year  – this didn’t happen. But we’re still planning to do it in the next couple years)
  12. Go to Comic-con
  13. Get into great shape and gain confidence in that area
  14. Take couple pictures once I feel better about myself
  15. Finish paying Pearson’s student loans
  16. Pay off our car (we’re on track to be done by the end of this year)
  17. Buy a house (this depends on when Pearson graduates – Which will be either May or August 2018! There is an end in sight!)
  18. Start putting more money toward retirement (once we pay off Pearson’s loans)
  19. Move back to the South (also depends on when Pearson graduates)
  20. Visit the Grand Ole Opry and stay at Opryland (we’re planning this for December of this year)
  21. Watch all the movies nominated for best picture each year – I’m not so sure I like this one any more. I’ll replace it with: Take a dance class.
  22. Read through the whole bible w/ good morning girls – this isn’t going to happen. At least not on the GMG schedule. I’m too far behind. But I think I’ll replace it with simply: Read the entire Bible.
  23. Memorize a book (or two) of the Bible
  24. Learn to play the guitar (for real this time)
  25. Ride in a hot air balloon – probably not gonna happen. I looked at how expensive it is and changed my mind. I don’t wanna do it that badly. I will replace this one with: Learn to play the Ukulele
  26. Read 60 books  – 10/60 done. Hmm…
  27. Keep up with a capsule wardrobe for at least an entire year
  28. Get another dog
  29. Brush up on my French
  30. Become a mother (this one might be a stretch depending on how long Pearson is in school) – So I don’t think this is going to happen. For several reasons. So I’m replacing it with: Learn German.

My 2018 List:

  1. Unplug for an entire weekend
  2. Attend a music festival
  3. Go to Disney World (Just happened!!!)
  4. Visit Seattle (Will easily happen now that we will be living in Portland!)
  5. Visit San Diego/Los Angeles
  6. Go on a cross-country road trip (Happening this month! Starting today as we leave Orlando!)
  7. Go on a cruise – I’m not so crazy about this one anymore. Replacing it with See Harry Potter and The Cursed Child in New York City.
  8. Go camping
  9. Stay in an AirBnB room
  10. Make decent money blogging (Will happen so much easier now that I’m blogging full time)
  11. See Hamilton (Hopefully happening in 2 months because Hamilton is coming to Portland!)
  12. Go to Comic-con
  13. Get into great shape and gain confidence in that area
  14. Take couple pictures once I feel better about myself
  15. Finish paying Pearson’s student loans
  16. Pay off our car
  17. Buy a house
  18. Start putting more money toward retirement (once we pay off Pearson’s loans)
  19. Move back to the South (also depends on when Pearson graduates) – Replacing this with Move to Oregon (Happening this month)
  20. Visit the Grand Ole Opry and stay at Opryland
  21. Take a dance class
  22. Read the Entire Bible
  23. Memorize a book (or two) of the Bible
  24. Learn to play the guitar (for real this time)
  25. Learn to play the ukulele

  6. Go on a cross-country road trip
  7. Go camping
  8. Stay in an AirBnB room
  9. Make decent money blogging (I have big plans for this one this year)
  10. See Harry Potter and The Cursed Child in New York City. (probably not gonna happen)
  11. See Hamilton (probably not gonna happen)
  12. Go to Comic-con
  13. Get into great shape and gain confidence in that area – Because I stopped caring so much about my weight, I’m replacing this one with actually create healthy routines and habits that I stick to (like drinking enough water, washing my face, getting enough sleep, and moving my body every day)
  14. Take couple pictures once I feel better about myself  Changing this one to simply Take Couple Pictures which we did back in November!
  15. Finish paying Pearson’s student loans (this is actually not going to happen this year because we’ve revamped our finances and have other priorities)
  16. Pay off our car
  17. Buy a House (this won’t happen this year either but it hopefully will shortly after I turn 30)
  18. Start putting more money toward retirement (once we pay off Pearson’s loans) Actually we’re already doing this even though we haven’t paid off Pearson’s loans
  19. Move to Oregon
  20. Visit the Grand Ole Opry and stay at Opryland
  21. Read the Entire Bible – Just because I feel like I can study better in other ways, I’m replacing this with Finish the SHERefined Study for the entire year
  22. Memorize a book (or two) of the Bible
  23. Take a dance class – Replacing this one with take an barre class (which I’m currently doing and loving)
  24. Learn to play the guitar (for real this time)
  25. Learn to play the ukulele
  26. Brush up on my French
  27. Learn German
  28. Read 60 books  – 55/60 done.
  29. Keep up with a capsule wardrobe for at least an entire year – Started in September and so far, so good!
  30. Get another dog (probably not gonna happen because we will probably wait till we buy a house)

Anyway, I failed pretty terribly. I only accomplished 17/30 items on the list. And I only accomplished 3 additional things from last year. These “goals” were silly and arbitrary and I completely regret making this list and making myself update it every year.

Anyway, without further adieu…

Thanks for reading!
