You guys, I was so very excited for this book. Lauren Graham is my current woman crush. I’ve always loved her as Lorelai but I’ve also loved her in everything she’s ever been in. I am currently watching Parenthood and I’m obsessed. I read her novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, about a year and a half ago and loved it. And, of course, I was in love with the Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls a couple months ago. So needless to say, I was psyched for this book. And I wasn’t disappointed!

First of all, I just love Lauren’s voice. There is so much dry humor and the book reads like you’re literally sitting on her couch having a conversation with her. So much wit. And yet so much wisdom. She laughs about herself. She jokes about the hollywood industry. She’s honest about sexism. She’s honest about how she couldn’t put into words what it felt like to go back and be Lorelai after all these years.

There is an entire chapter where she literally sat down and watched the original series from beginning to end and wrote down her reactions and what she remembered from filming each season. And she also shared a lot of journal entries from her time filming A Year in the Life. Oh my goodness so many feels. And so much information. I feel like I’m a hollywood/Warner Brothers Lot/Netflix expert now. I so admired how she portrayed everything and didn’t seem to hold anything back. And I loved the little heart-felt pieces of advice she so humbly bestowed on the reader. I appreciate it, Lauren Graham.

I highly recommend this book to anybody and everybody. Especially if you love Lauren as much as I do and especially if you’re a Gilmore Girls fanatic.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t love this book at first. I love dogs. And the movie looks really good. But the whole book is written from a dog’s point of view and I didn’t need to know when the dog needed to use the bathroom or had the urge to mount another dog. But, that wasn’t what the book was all about. And once the dog wasn’t a puppy anymore, he didn’t talk about those things anymore.

I read the book because my book club decided to read it this month before the movie came out. I didn’t finish the book in time for the book club meeting and I didn’t go, but I did enjoy the book for the most part. It was interesting reading from a dog’s point of view. And it was also interesting that he was born over and over as a different puppy but had the same memories and skills. It makes you think.

I look at Pip differently now. I’m so much more in tune with how in tune he is. Dogs can sense your mood and their entire purpose is to cheer you up. No I didn’t just spoil the book. I’m guessing you already knew that was your dog’s purpose. But the dog in this book’s purpose goes so much more in depth than that.

I do recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs. It’s different from your typical novel. It has a great ending. You’ll laugh more than you cry, I promise. And it’s a very quick read.
