Inspiration of the Month: #ALSIceBucketChallenge

Inspiration of the Month: #ALSIceBucketChallenge

You’ve all seen it all over the internet. The #ALSIceBucketChallenge. I know a lot of people are tired if it. A lot of people think it’s old now. Some people are wondering if it’s really helping. And some people are completely criticizing those who participate because of the motivations behind doing the challenge. Are they doing it to bring attention to themselves? Are they trying to one-up their peers? Are they trying to feel good about themselves?

You know what, maybe some people are thinking like this. But you know what else? I don’t care! It is happening and it is helping! I don’t know what the number is now but I know that tens of millions of dollars have been raised in the last month for ALS research. That’s more than a 1200% increase. If you have any doubt about where the money is going or if it is really needed, please watch this video!

So maybe some people’s hearts aren’t in a great place with this challenge. But frankly, we live in a corrupt world and country. I am so proud this country is doing so much good regardless of the motivation!
On another note though, I do know that there are many other diseases out there that need the attention and funding just as badly as ALS. And that’s why I am glad the challenge is starting to morph into a “Charity of your choice IceBucketChallenge.” So this weekend, when I was nominated to do the challenge, I donated to alsa.org, curefa.org, and michaeljfox.org. Below is my video. I only challenged a couple people, but if you’re reading this and feeling inspired (and you haven’t already been challenged) I challenge you! Every penny can make a difference and the attention that ALS and now some other diseases are getting around the internet is priceless!
Have you done the challenge? Did you donate to anybody besides ALS?
Thanks for reading!
