You guys. I haven’t written a blog post since February. Well, technically I wrote one in July for the Dating Divas’ Marriage Bundle, but that doesn’t really count. But it’s time for another Christmas Trees on Parade post! Since we bought a house this year, I knew I had to participate!

The Trees
I was so excited to decorate our new house for Christmas this year, and I am incredibly happy with how it all turned out! After I posted my Christmas Trees on Parade post last year, I bought some red sparkly tulle from Amazon to spruce up my tree and I LOVE IT!
I had some more trouble with lights this year, like last year. However, unlike last year, this magical tool did not help. I ended up unstringing the lights from the middle and top sections and putting new lights on from Amazon. It was sort of a pain but I did it while listening to an audio book and it was worth it to save this tree from a landfill.
Of course, I put up our purple tree in our bedroom. It’s decorated with only stuff from our wedding. And it’s always sported sparkling tulle.
Other Decor
I LOVE how our mantel turned out too! Just adding some of the tulle on top and putting little festive details around the candles was perfect. I decided not to put my lighted garland up there because we already have a strip of lights. They are red in the photo below.
So I put the garland over the doorway to our office. And I LOVE it there! I also put some tulle on it. That 2 pack from Amazon goes a long way!
Then I have this little scene that my grandparents made on our entryway table.
And of course, we’re displaying all of our various Santa hats!
I decorated this bookcase with some of the pieces of decor I had left and I think it turned out great!
And lastly, I decided to put these fun little ornaments in/on my potted plants around the house. I bought these years ago when we first got married and didn’t have many ornaments on our tree. The red sparkles were good as filler on our tree, but we don’t need them anymore with the tulle and extra ornaments we’ve collected over the years.
One thing I learned about decorating for the holidays this year is that with a little creativity, I can use what I already have and make things seem new and exciting. I thought I might need to buy lots of new decor this year since we’re in a house now and not just a one bedroom apartment. But it turns out I had plenty of festive decorations. The candles on my mantel became festive just by adding some little accents from the dollar store that I’ve had forever. Ornaments that used to go on our tree can now spruce up house plants all over our house. And the tulle I bought for our tree last year is not just for the tree! I even put some outside on our porch railings!
