Monthly Goals for May {2017}

Monthly Goals for May {2017}

May. Can you believe it’s May already? I’m sure I sound like a broken record because I say something like that at the beginning of every month, but seriously! We’re already getting close to summer! How is that possible? Our neighborhood pool opened yesterday! Granted, it’s a heated pool, but still.

Side note: When we first moved here, I saw that the apartment complex had an outdoor pool but the sign said it was heated. I could not comprehend why an outdoor pool needed to be heated. They weren’t going to have it open in the winter, were they? Fast forward to our first May here and I learned pretty quickly why the pool was heated; because in Ohio swimming pools can get pretty chilly even the summer, much less May when it opens.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. Let’s see how I did on my goals in April, shall we?

April:

Word of the Year (confidence):

  • Journal every night before bed and include daily personal affirmations.
  • Work through the “Self Confidence” workbook from my therapist.
    • We decided to do a Social Anxiety book first.

Spiritual:

Physical:

  • Do Country Heat as well as the 21 Day Fix workouts at least 4 days per week.
  • Eat at least one helping of veggies per day.
  • Be in bed by 10:30 pm to journal and read. Lights out by 11:00.
  • Get out of bed by 7:00 am on work days.

Reading (affiliate links):

Marriage:

  • Go on one intentional date per week and we can’t repeat any this whole month.
  • Do my Couple Check-In every week this month.
  • All three books I’m reading this month (including the devotional) are marriage related.

Blog:

  • Post at least 3 times per week
  • Land at least one sponsored post
  • Update pictures in old posts

Work:

  • Take initiative and look for work when there isn’t anything instead of wasting time.

Home:

  • Keep our home clean (especially dishes)
  • Meal plan and prep every week.

30×30:

  • Have a “no-spend”month. We have a few things we’ll have to spend on that we already know about. But other than that, no spending. No eating out. No silly pointless shopping. And not even groceries. We have so much food in our fridge and cabinets that we really think this is possible.
    • Some things came up but we did a lot better about spending than we have in a long time.
  • Keep up with our German lessons on DuoLingo.

Lent:

  • Continue staying away from drive-throughs.
    • I did well until the end of the month. But Lent was over by then…
So… I did worse than usual. But I’m not letting that get me down. I have decided to set fewer goals for May. I believe I have been too ambitious in my monthly goals and I’ve been setting myself up for failure. So lets see what I’m hoping to accomplish in May.

May:

Word of the Year (confidence):

  • Journal every night before bed and include daily personal affirmations.

Spiritual:

Physical:

  • Walk for at least 20 minutes, 4 times per week. Whether it’s at lunch or around the park with Pip in the evenings.
  • Eat at least one helping of veggies per day.
  • On week nights: Be in bed by 10:30 pm to journal and read. Lights out by 11:00.
  • Get out of bed by 7:00 am on work days.

Reading:

  • Read at least 2 fiction books

Marriage:

Blog:

  • Post at least 3 times per week
  • Land at least one sponsored post
  • Update pictures in old posts (I have a list of posts I want to update)
  • Reach 3,000 Instagram followers

Work:

  • Take initiative and look for work when there isn’t anything instead of wasting time.

Home:

  • Keep our home relatively clean (especially the dishes)

30×30:

  • Stay within our budget.
  • Only eat out on weekends (for $ sake).
  • Get back into our German lessons on DuoLingo.
  • We will be visiting the Pacific North West! I will be able to cross that off my 30×30 list!
Those are my goals! I think they’re doable. What are your goals for the month? Thanks for reading!
